“Shindisi Heroes” square was opened in Batumi today. The chairman of Batumi City Council- Irakli Tcheishvili, members of the city council, the chairman of Ajara AR Government - Archil Khabadze, the Mayor- Girogi Ermakovi and the representatives of civil society have attended the opening ceremony. Symbolically the maple trees were planted in the square.
The “Shindisi Heores” square was built on Lermontovi Street according to euro standards which covers the territory of four hectares. Building of the stadium with 150 sits was accomplished, adapted attractions were installed, drainage system was arranged, slabs and curbs were paved and the street lights were installed. The square contains 90 benches and drinking water fountains. Million and 902 thousand GEL was spent from the Batumi Municipality Budget. Construction works were done by the winner company-LTD “Monoliti 2005”.
August 11, 2008 at the Shindisi railway station the Second Infantry Brigade Platoon of Georgian Armed Forces was involved in an unequal battle with the Russian Hundred. The battle lasted for an hour. The Russians were shooting from all kinds of weapons, including tanks. Georgians were fighting till the end and died with a heroic death. These heroes square was opened in Batumi today.
