Today in Batumi was held event devoted to the memories of heroes of Shindisi. Deputy Chairman of Batumi Municipality City Council Lasha Sirabidze and members of City Council with a minute of silence honored memories of heroes of Shindisi died on 11th of August, 2008 year. With the members of City Council in the park named after heroes of Shindisi were gathered representatives of Georgian Defense Ministry, Government of Ajara, Ajara Supreme Council, Batumi City Hall and part of society, who also remembered our heroes. Photos reflecting Russian-Georgian War were exhibited on the place. National anthem of Georgia was performed. Members of the event on the name of 17 dead heroes of Shindisi planted 17 seedlings. 

On 11th of August, 2008 year, near railway station of village Shindisi, engineering platoon of II infantry brigade of Georgian Armed Forces was involved into unequal struggle with Russian motorized troop. Enemy shoot from almost all kinds of weapon against Georgian soldiers, among them from tanks and rocket weapon, in spite of the fact, that opponent called for help twice, 17 Georgian warriors steadfastly resisted enemies till the end and died as the heroes.
