11 December 2017

The role of female city-council members in decision-making process and the issue of gender equality in municipalities were discussed today at the meeting between Batumi City Council female deputies and the representatives of NDI (National Democratic Institute). The meeting was mainly introductory. The members of Batumi City Council presented their future plans to NDI representatives saying that women's role in decision-making process is crucial. With their active work, meetings and effective supervision over the executive government they will be able to involve more women in civil activities.

NDI representatives introduced the program “Future Women Leaders” to the City Council members, which aims to strengthen professional skills of the female members and increase their political influence in decision-making process.
