Irakli Tcheishvili left the position

Today, the City Council’s Chairman Irakli Tcheishvil, in order to protect election legislation requests, resigned on the ground of the personal statement. This commitment was obliged to Irakli Tcheishvili by the legislation, because in the elections of the Supreme Council of Ajara he was named the third number in the electoral list by the party – “Georgian Dream- Democratic Georgia”.
The statement was taken into consideration by The City Council at the today’s extraordinary session. According to the legislation, not later than 2 days from the submission of the application about registration of a candidate for membership of the Supreme Council, persons, whose positions are incompatible to the candidacy of the deputy, should resign and leave the position held.
 “I’m proud for being the Chairman of the City Council, eleven members of which will participate in the elections. This suggests that the best representatives of the political spectrum of the city worked at this City Council”- he said, talking to colleagues.
Batumi City Council Chairman’s duties, in accordance with the regulations, will perform the Deputy Chairman of the City Council Lasha Sirabidze.
